The project began as an open call for emerging artists to participate in the travelling exhibition LONDON | VIENNA | CALLING. An initiative by recent graduates from Chelsea College of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, this project aimed to connect Viennese and London based artists and to offer a platform for international exchange. To achieve this, the London based artists were selected by the Viennese committee, and visa versa.

The LONDON | VIENNA | CALLING exhibitions provided an opportunity for  thirty London and Vienna based artists and art students to expose their work to a wide audience in both capital cities. The artistic discourse that took place during both exhibitions supported the further development of an understanding of contemporary art and immediate practises by artists based in two major European art centres. In addition to putting together an exciting traveling exhibition, this project aimed to achieve the greatest possible level of interdisciplinary exchange, which was demonstrated by a range of relevant contemporary practices that spanned across a wide spectrum of media, subjects and processes.

The project was kindly sponsored by Austrian Cultural Forum London.
